Brasov SYNAGOGUE - details and images
SYNAGOGUE Brasov is a Hebrew place of worship in the city of Brasov, located on Str. Schei Gate no. 29. It was built between 1899-1901 in gothic style with Moorish accents.
SYNAGOGUE Brasov was built between 1899-1901, after the Hungarian architect plans Lipót (Leopold) Baumhorn (1860-1932) and was inaugurated on 20 August 1901. Building area is 657 m².
The style of construction of the Moorish style synagogue is it having a basilica plan with three naves. Gothic decorative elements are present (rosettes, window frames and doors) and Romance.
The synagogue was renovated in 2001 to commemorate the 100th anniversary. It is currently used for ritual purposes.
