Guellala - details and images
In the southern island of Djerba was the village Guell, former city Haribus, typical Berber village approx. 8,000 inhabitants, is today known for local pottery and the only place on the island where they speak a Berber dialect.
Potters from Guell Corporation is without doubt one of the oldest crafts in the world corportii. Remaining potters now 35-40 in front of 350-400 Guell how many were in full production.
Shaft city is bordered by shops selling pottery and warehouse these products. Guell is surrounded by clay plates, as raw material for pottery work.
The village houses a traditional folk art museum is located on a hill, where you can admire the pottery, Berber costumes. An ideal place to buy gifts or ceramic memories. It is worth visiting the cave of Ali Berber, a black pottery, where you can get acquainted with trade secrets.
