Paris City Hall - details and images

In the Middle Ages, death row inmates were hanged in the square in front of city hall. Today the market is more pajnica and decorated with fountains. Hotel de Ville is located relatively close to the Pompidou Centre and the Ile de la Cite. Besides being mayor here has its Paris office, buildings still hosts many events and receptions. The building has undergone some major changes over time. In 1835 two new wings were built under the supervision of the prefect of Paris. These two wings were linked by a gallery which burned in 1871. The reconstruction was intended to be an exact copy of a building destroyed during the rebellion. New City Hall building was officially inaugurated in 1882.

Nearby there is a shop named after the town hall - Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville. Tourists who come to see the City Hall of Paris, visiting the church of St-Gervais-et-St-Protais nearby. The best way to get to the City of Paris is by Metro. Besides the great architecture of the building and visitors can enjoy various events that it hosts quite frequently.
