Salt Slanic Prahova - details and images

It is the largest salt mine in Europe. The city is known for its salt lakes (called Spa): Baia Baciului Red Baia Baia Verde, and Salt Mines Old Salt and New. While in New Salt is still extracted salt mine old (Old Salt) is now open to the public, being used as a recreation.

Salina Slănic Prahova, situated at a depth of 208m, on an area of 53,000sqm, was opened after 1970. The touristic circuit goes through a route that allows the highlighting of some spatial elements of tourism interest in the internal structure of the salt mass, represented by tattoos with tens of meters of development, marked by variations of colorful bands with gray and white tones, various mineralogical features (structure, texture, crystallization mode) and the exceptional purity of the salt.

Salt consists of 14 rooms, in the form of trapeze, with a base open 32 yards on the tray 10 meters and a height of 45 meters.

Underground is arranged and a sanatorium for people with asthma who are ensuring health care professional. Aeration anger is natural, with constant temperature all year round 12 degrees Celsius.

* Transportation of tourists to / from Slanic Prahova salt mine is done by minibuses (after minibus transport, the air in the salt is polluted with noxes)
