St. Machar Cathedral - details and images
Believed to be built on the site of the small chapel built by St Machar Celtic in 581.
The cathedral was founded in 1136. The current building works were started in 1378 and completed in 1552. Characteristic of this building are towers in the west and wooden ceiling representing shields, dating from the sixteenth century.
