Cluj-Napoca International Airport (IATA airport code is CLJ) is the fourth largest airport in Romania by airports "Henri Coanda" Bucharest "Aurel Vlaicu" Bucharest, Traian Vuia Timisoara. The airport is located in the commune in suburban Someşeni on the European road E 576, 10 km east of downtown Cluj-Napoca and to the railway station is located 12 km.


Since its transformation into the international airport in September 1996, the airport has experienced about significant increases in terms of traffic. For example, in 2003, compared to the previous year, passenger numbers grew by 22% and 37% work for freight cargo (90.7 tons) and 126.1% for e (15.6 cubic tons). These increases were most important in Romania. The increase in movement (number of landings and takeoffs) in the same year (6.1%) was the second in Romania after Timisoara (31.3%).

In 2007, the airport has had a spectacular development, with an increase of 60% over 2006. Year 2008 saw the highest growth in passenger traffic so far, about 93%. In 2009 passenger numbers increased from 2008 was much lower (11%), which is due to the economic crisis that hit and Romania.

Airport management estimates that by 2013 the number of passengers transiting the airport will reach 2 million people and for the years 2010-2011 has forecast a total of 1.5 million passengers will transit through the airport.
