Navagio beach - details and images

The beach is accessible only by boat, but that does not stop thousands of tourists from venturing into this hidden corner of the world to enjoy at least a few minutes with the incredible image of huge rocks, the fine sandy beach and the transparent blue of the sea water. .
Another attraction of the beach, besides the dream image offered by nature, is the wreck of the Scottish vessel Panagiotis, which failed on shore in 1980. No one knows exactly how this ship arrived on the beach, although legends have not been late to appear. Built in Scotland in 1937, the ship has changed its name several times over time, eventually becoming Panagiotis, the famous ship of cigarette smugglers and Italian mafia. Some voices claim that the ship failed during a pursuit with Greek coast guard vessels, after which the crew disappeared without trace. Another variant of the story claims that the ship was sunk near the shore of the same coast guard, the waves then throwing it on shore. The latest story says that the Greek tourism minister of the 1980s ordered the wreck to be carried especially on this beach to attract as many tourists.
Regardless of the legends woven around it, the wreck beach is considered today as a true miracle of nature, perhaps the most beautiful beach in Greece, on the island that the mythological hero Ulysses once conquered and mastered. Perhaps here, in such a beautiful place, he took his steps even the wisest of the heroes who fought in the Trojan war.
