The Prodromul Shrine (that is, the Forerunner) was founded between 1852-1866 by Hieronymus Nifon Ionescu and his apprentice, the Hieronymite Nectarie. It is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and is in the territory of Lavra Monastery.
