Muntenia, RomaniaStarting with 1943, the Mina Unirea opened with a number of 15 rooms, all with trapezoidal profile. The exploitation was done until 1972, and since then it is intended for the touristic circuit and for the medical treatment under supervision.
The maximum depth of the mine is 217m, and its trapezoidal rooms measure 55m high, the total area of the mine being approximately 80,000 sqm.
The height of a hall is 70 m, and the circuit runs around the huge pillar supporting the mine. You can admire the bas-reliefs depicting Mihai Viteazul or the statues of Eminescu, Decebal, Traian (Genesis Room) and you can look back as in a huge cathedral.
