Watamu

Watamu suahili language means "sweet people." It is a tourist village on the coast "Turtle Bay", the Indian Ocean situated about 25 km south of Malindi in Kenya.

Watamu village essentially a Swahili (or Bajuni) fishing village that has grown into a small beach resort over the years.
The village has several small supermarkets, grocers and the usual Kenyan style Dukas where you can buy all the supplies you need. There are also a number of curio and souvenir dealers, a butchery, fishmongers, a bureau de change,a post office, two doctors' clinics, a western hairdresser and several roadside eateries.

Mida creek
Mida creek is a large creek lined with mangrove forest and renowned for its waders, kingfishers and crabs. Birdwatching, fishing, mangrove walks, and leisure boat trips can be arranged by several guides from Watamu. Waterskiing and other watersports are also available.

Arabuko-Sokoke Forest
Covering an area of over 400 square kilometers, it is the last large piece of indigenous coastal forest in Kenya. It is a key site for the global survival of six bird species and three mammal species.
The Arabuko-Sokoke Forest Guides Association has several expert guides who can accompany you on your forest walks, they are expert ornithologists and can help visitors find and see some of the rare and unique birds of the forest.
