General informationIgls with its 2200 inhabitants is situated in the mountains at an altitude of 900 m, just 5 km away from Innsbruck. As the Olympic Winter Games were held twice here (1964 and 1976), Igls is known as a winter sport resort all over the world. For the sporty visitors, IGLS boasts a rich variety of options to choose from: Ski the immaculately groomed slopes and cross country ski tracks. Take an exhilarating toboggan downhill ride. Rush down the Olympic bobsled run. Go for a spin on the natural ice skating rink. Try your hand at Alpine curling. Play a game of tennis or squash. Götzens is a small, romantic resort just 10 km from Innsbruck. The former Olympic ski region from 1964 and 1976 is still an attraction for many guests. It is only 500 m to the Götzens/Mutters ski area, and Axamer Lizum is approx. 10 km away. The village is placed on a sunny terrace and offers a magnificent view of the surrounding mountain scenery. This village of about 2,000 souls is located right in the heart of the North Tyrolean Alps. 26 quaint little hamlets form the municipality of Leutasch, which is located in the olympic region of Seefeld in a high valley close to the border to Bavaria/Germany. This village is above all popular due to the typical “Lüftlmalerei”, a handicraft method of wall-painting, which originally comes from Bavaria and Tyrol. This type of paintings involve a fresco-technique applied to freshly laid plaster. A wonderful photo motif!

By airplane: the nearest airports are Innsbruck and Munich.

The market town of Zirl, located only 10 km from Innsbruck, boasts a popular climbing area, the so-called Martinswand. The component localities Zirl, Zirl Bahnhof, Hochzirl, Eigenhofen and Dirschenbach form the municipality of Zirl. Also the popular climbing area Martinswand, the Ehnbachklamm gorge as well as parts of the Nordkette mountain chain belong to the municipal territory. The village was first mentioned in 799 AD. But due to its location at the Roman road Via Claudia Augusta, already in early times Zirl represented an important traffic junction.

At an altitude of 633 m is the idyllic resort surrounded by a unique mountain landscape at the foot of the Nordkette. Thaur is located only 10 km from Innsbruck. The idyllic resort, where tradition is upheld, is not only home to Thaur nativity carvers, but is also known as Tyrol's ''largest vegetable garden.'' Through its cultural programme in particular, the cosy village sets itself apart from the usual winter sports resorts. Still remaining from the trademark of the resort, the castle of Thaur, are only ruins. At the nearby Glugezer, you will find a beautiful ski area with mostly middle-difficult slopes. After a strenuous day on the piste, various restaurants and coffee houses invite you in to relax and unwind.
