Chiflik

Chiflik

Chiflik Village is located in Lovech region, the upper stream of the river Beli Iskar in the south-western part of the town of Troyan. Shipkovo villages to the north, south Rosino and Hristo Danovo, Beli Osam east and west Ribaritsa Chiflik adjoins the village. The village is located 15 km south-west of the Trojan and is connected to it through a regular bus line.

The present-day town is the heir of the Thracian town of Melta, situated in the Hisarlaka area. During the Middle Ages, Lovech was a strategic military centre, called Lovuts, while in the 12th century, the town gradually moved to the right bank of the Osam river, where the current quarter of Varosha lies. In Byzantine times, following the Turnovo uprising against Byzantine domination, the Lovech Fortress defended successfully the road to Veliko Turnovo and forced the Byzantine Empire to conclude the famous Lovech Peace Treaty in 1187, which gave a new start to the Bulgarian state.

Apriltsi (Bulgarian: Априлци) is a small town in Lovech Province, Central-North Bulgaria, located in the vicinity of the highest part of Stara Planina mountain. It is the administrative centre of the homonymous Apriltsi Municipality. Due to its favourable location in a valley at the foot of Botev Peak in the Balkan Mountains, Apriltsi is a newly developing tourist resort in the region. Besides Botev, notable peaks in the area are Triglav and Maragidik. The town was founded by the merging of four large mountain villages: Novo Selo, Zla Reka, Vidima and Ostrets, which are today the town's neighbourhoods.

The city is part of Teteven Lovech district, located in the north-western Balkan Mountains in central cavities. It stretches for 12 km along the valley of Vit river, stretched like a spring tail, thereby explaining the etymology of the name. It is situated at an altitude of 300-499 m above sea level, covers an area of 110,788 km ² and has a population of 10,870 inhabitants (01.01.2007 census). Teteven Teteven municipality is the center. In the city can be reached by bus or car. Regular buses run to Sofia (110 km) and district towns of Lovech (70 km).
