Spindler's Mill - great skiing adventure!

Špindlerův Mlýn (Spindler's Mill) is known as the most popular winter sports resort in the Giant Mountains, due to its internationally mixed visitors. With its buildings from the 1920's the resort has kept the original atmosphere, underlined by many local traditions and cultural events which take place here regularly. The "Skiareal Špindlerův Mlýn" comprises the areas Medvedín and Svatý Petr, which stretch out from both sides of the resort. Mostly red pistes, but also some blues and blacks are available to the skiers with all levels of ability here.

Cross-country skiers will also find what they are looking for in Spindler's Mill with 91.5 km of regularly maintained tracks. The many leisure offers guarantee fun after piste time. Numerous restaurants, bars and discos lure you in for action in the evenings. More diversity is found on the 4 km long toboggan run, on the ice skating rink and the very brave may even try paragliding.

Ski
The ski area of Spindler's Mill ski area is situated at an altitude of 702 - 1,235 m and has offers approx 24 km of pistes, accessed by 23 lifts. It comprises the two ski areas Medvedín and Svatý Petr, which extend to both sides of the town and are perfectly connected by a ski bus. The modern lifts make sure the queues are kept short.

Medvedín mainly offers easy and family-friendly pistes which are up to 4 km long and pass through lovely forests. Leisurely skiers especially enjoy the sunny slopes of Horní Mísecky and the snow bars there. In the meantime, boarders can enjoy themselves in the fun park. At Svatý Petr a few challenging red and black pistes await the skiers, e.g. the world cup slalom piste. The largest snow-making system in the Czech Republic makes sure that the already snow-sure pistes are well prepared with fresh powder, just in case. The fun park, including a half-pipe, ensures that also the boarders have a great time!

Exciting apres ski awaits winter holiday makers in Spindler's Mill: about 50 bars, restaurants and discos offer an amusing programme and require quite a bit of condition! The Spindler's Mill après ski has no reason to hide it's face from Austrian après ski, especially as it can satisfy its international guests with low prices and legendary ambience. The party starts during the day in the typical ski lodges, the so called "Bauden". Just beneath Svatý Petr, the Audi-Bar gets skiers in the right mood and the bars and discos "Silver Rock Music Bar" or "Disco Dolska Felicity Fun" offer holiday makers the chance to go on partying!

Those who want to spend a quieter evening can visit one of the numerous restaurants and enjoy local specialities like dumplings or potato pancakes. Sports offers away from the piste include a fitness centre, tennis courts or an exciting toboggan run. Relaxation can be found e.g. on a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the wonderful winter landscape.

Cross-country skiers will feel as if they were in paradise in Spindler's Mill: a network of 91.5 km well prepared and daily tended tracks awaits skiers here! From the chair lift stations you can easily reach the tracks on the Plàn Plateau, as well as the more challenging routes over the comb of the mountain.

Those who are fit enough should not miss out on the 30 km route along the comb of the Giant Mountains! This track begins in Janské Lázné and passes by Pec and Spindler's Mill until you reach Harrachov, from which you have access to the tracks in Poland just behind the border. The impressive panorama can be enjoyed when turning into the typical "Bauden". The tour around Spinderl's Mill, starting in Medvedín via Zlaté návrší (Golden Heights) up to the Plán Plateau is very popular: this 25 km route takes you through lovely landscapes exclusively above the timber line. More tracks can be found in the Horní Mísecky area, including some racing and skating tracks.
