Assumption Cathedral in Moscow is the oldest and most important place of worship of the Kremlin, was built in 1330 Ivan the place where I raised the small church to celebrate the fact that Moscow became the center of Russian Orthodoxy. A century and a half later, Ivan the Great was to build a cathedral more impressive, with the help of Alberti Fioravanti, Italian architect brought in 1475 in Bologna.
After he visited Vladimir, Pskov and Novgorod to familiarize themselves with traditional ecclesiastical architecture, he began working. Four years later finished his greatest creation, so successful that brought death.
When the manufacturer wanted to return to Italy, fearing that he will build something as Ivan the cast into prison, where brilliant builder would die a few years later.
Assumption Cathedral would later play a major role in country's history, there having been many jobs for celebrating coronations and military victories.
Today, the Cathedral is just fascinating architecture and long history, but also the vast collection of icons and frescoes inside.
