Cathedral of Siguenza - details and images

Siguenza is full of religious and political history. Cathedral is a very massive Gothic edifice of stone carved.

Construction began in the twelfth century by order of Bishop Don Bernardo de Agen, but work continued until the sixteenth century. It is one of the most excellent late Romanesque buildings in Spain, with some Gothic features and Plateresque. The two towers of a fortress crenelated looks.

Façade has three doors and a fenced yard in front. On the southern wall of the tomb presbyterium Gothic Bishop Alonso Carrillo of Albornoz, Cardinal of San Eustaquio, and knight of Acuna Gomez Carrillo and his wife.
