Euromast Tower - details and images
Euromast is a tower in Rotterdam, built between 1958 and 1960, designed by Hugh Maaskant.
It has been specially built for the exhibition "Floriade" in 1960. The building is concrete, has a diameter of nine meters and a thickness of 30 cm. For stability, was built on a concrete block of 1.9 million kilograms, so the center of gravity is below ground.
Initially, the tower was 101 meters high and was the tallest building in Rotterdam. Later, he lost this position, but it resumed when the "Space Tower" was added to the top of the building in 1970, offering an additional 85 meters. Euromast is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers. "
