Gothenburg Botanical Garden - details and images

One of the most distinguished botanists who created the garden was Skottsberg Carl, who has made several research trips around the world to collect rare plants for the garden.

The total area is 175 hectares, of which one is more a natural Änggården with an arboretum. The garden itself is approximately 40 hectares and has 16,000 different species. Rock Garden has received three stars in Michelin Guide.

Other attractions worth visiting are the Valley Rhododendron, Japanese and Greenhouses Glade, about 4,000 different plants, including about 1,500 orchids, and rare trees, Eastern Island, Toromiro.

Gothenburg Botanical Garden has been called the most beautiful garden in Sweden in 2003.
