Massabielle Grotto - details and images
Massabielle Grotto, located in the town of Lourdes is a Catholic pilgrimage. Bernardette Soubirous (07.01.1844 - 16.05.1879, canonized by Pope Pius XI) says it has assisted in the grotto, the 18 appearances of the Virgin Mary in 1858 and where, according to its instructions, found a source of water with miraculous powers.
Massabielle Grotto is shallow and corresponds to a niche in the wall about 10 m cliff.
Spring, which began to flow near the grotto by appearances, would have miraculous powers. Bernardette Soubirous said the Virgin told him: "Come and drink from the fountain water to wash."
Pilgrims can collect water from taps located on the left or you can bathe in the grotto pools located slightly away from the source.
