Naples Royal Palace - details and images

The Royal Palace was built on the old palace viceroyal in the early eighteenth century. He worked as a royal residence until the end of the century when the royal family moved into the new palace at Caserta.

The palace was built by the architect Domenico Fontana and amended plans and Gaetano Genovese architect Luigi Vanvitelli. It was partially destroyed in the Second World War but was rebuilt after the original plans. West facade, from Piazza Plebiscito is adorned by statues of the great kings of the United Napolii.
