Porto - details and images

With the bell towers that rise over the hilly landscape, baroque churches, medieval buildings and art-deco palaces that follow one another, Porto seems to belong to a fairytale, especially if you look at Rio Douro. Portugal owes its name to this beautiful city, one of the oldest in Europe.

The labyrinth of narrow and paved streets houses squares, churches and houses with colored facades and azulea. If in the historic center you can admire the decadent glories and for this wonderful old past, outside the historic center, the city has seen a rebirth of the seaside resorts, which are hosting more and more important architect works and are increasingly the point of reference for contemporary global cuisine. The symbols of the past can be seen in the Lello & Irmao Library and Majestic Café, a very old café where you can breathe old-fashioned air.

Porto is like a good wine, it must be enjoyed slowly as you walk through the hills of Miragaia, Ribeira and Massarelos. I have made a useful guide to what to see and do in Porto.
