Romanian National Opera in Cluj - details and images

It was built in the early twentieth century by the famous Viennese Felnner & Helmer firm specializing in the design and construction of theaters, representing, in terms of architecture, an attempt to introduce a secessionist style, easy barochizant.
Romanian Opera in Cluj was founded on 19 September 1919, is the oldest institution in Romania lyrical-dramatic. Under the leadership of leading artistic personalities, tenor Paul Constantine, Tango Egisto Italian conductor, composer Tiberiu Brediceanu baritone Dimitrie Popovici-Bayreuth, were overcome in a few months, the difficulties related to the actual composition of a whole opera.

The first performances were two symphonic concerts, on 13 and 14 May 1919, under the leadership of conductor Oskar Nedbal.
