Village Museum Bucovina - Suceava - details and images

The idea of establishing an open air museum of ethnography to the potential of Bukovina dates back to 1958, when Bucovina had numerous monuments of popular architecture. However, only in 1971 it started the first campaign in field research, collection of folklore and ethnography. Suceava City People's Council then allocated a portion of 1.7 hectares on the plateau near the Fortress of Suceava, in order to install the 11 objectives.

In 1990 the area was extended to 6 hectares allocated on the same site and in 1996 a government decision has established the Bucovina Village Museum
