Calgary is the largest city in the Canadian province of Alberta which had, according to the census of April 2006, 988,193 inhabitants (1,042,892 inhabitants in 2008) and 1,162,100 inhabitants, taking into account the metropolitan area, placing it so the
top five ranked Canadian metropolis. It is situated in the southern province of Alberta, at the edge of the Rocky Mountains and the Canadian prairie, fertile Calgary-Edmonton corridor.
