The hotel was converted from a cluster of 15 pre- war terraces and shophouses, facing Hutton Lane, Transfer Road and Clarke Street, into a heritage boutique hotel that maintains the character of the heritage zone while meeting the highest modern expectations.Each room or suite is individually furnished with antique cabinets, benches and chairs. Softer seating of modern sofas and what we call "prima donnas", the dramatic classics of mid 20th century furniture design, are also in every room. In every room there is an original piece or more from a well known or emerging artist, as well as original natural history prints and maps that relate to Penang. Every bathroom has a Jacuzzi Spa bath and a separate shower. Toiletries are locally made, from craftsmen and women who specialize in the fragrances and products of the region.
