The Mount Ruapehu ski area is a 6km drive up the mountain from the Village.

The hotel is the ideal base for exploring the UNESCO world heritage parks - and the many hiking and biking trails in the area. From the hotel you can walk to Taranaki Falls, Tawhai Falls, Tama Lakes and for those up for a day trail walk, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
