Gent (flam. [ɣɛnt], French Gand [gɑ] English Gent [Ghent]) is a city located in the province neerlandofon Flanders East Flanders region of Belgium. On January 1, 2008 had a total population of 237,250 inhabitants. Gent is the capital of the Belgian province of East Flanders and Gent arrondissement. Gent is an important university city of Ghent University has over 28,000 students.

Ghent is often named as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and compete with famous tourist town of Bruges. Much of medieval architecture is amazingly intact and well maintained. The city is host to large events, such as bags and Festival van Vlaanderen Feesten.
