Cerný Dul

The romantic area of Černý Důl lies at the southern foot of the Giant Mountains at an altitude of 684 m. The name of the Czech village translates to "black mine," referring back to their history as a mine settlement, as well as the lush forestry in the surrounding area. In the 18th century, everything here revolved around limestone mining, but the focus today is on a different sort of white splendour. Mother nature makes sure to provide a rich amount of snow along with a yearly average tempurature of 7°C - the perfect conditions for a white winter wonderland from December to March. The quiet little village has been moulded into a popular winter sport destination, whereby its romantic traditions and serenity have been wonderfully preserved.
