Outstanding Ukrainian capital Kiev (or Kyiv) is one of the oldest cities in Eastern Europe and its wealth increased and decreased along with the exchange's history. It is believed that the city, once capital of the old Russian (region of origin countries of today Russia, Ukraine and Belarus), dates from the fifth century and played a leading role in the expansion of the eastern Slavic people, and he served as a major center of trade between the Mediterranean and the Baltic.
By the 1200s, Kiev was one of the largest cities in the world, but had lost after invasion of Mongolia in 1240, recovering and really only in the nineteenth century, during the Russian Revolution.
