Seoul (in hangul: 서울 or Teukbyeolsi Seoul) is the capital of Korea for 600 years, currently special city status. Since the establishment of the Republic of Korea (better known by the name of South Korea) in 1948, was the capital of this country, except
for a brief period of time during the Korean War. It is located in the northwest, in the DMZ, on the Han River.
