The Museum of Steam Locomotives

The Museum Of Steam Locomotives

Banat, RomaniaCurrently, in the Museum of the Locomotives are exhibited a number of 16 locomotives from different centuries, of which 14 were manufactured in Reșița, and two in other parts. The most important piece is the "Resicza" locomotive, which welcomes visitors at the entrance to the park. This is part of a series of 3 locomotives built here in 1872 after a prototype built in Vienna, destined for the Reșița-Secu mountain route. "Resicza" is also the oldest locomotive in the park, being manufactured in 1872, and the newest is the narrow gauge locomotive CFR 764.001 from 1958. The Museum of Steam Locomotives in Reșița is a unique collection that illustrates the progress of almost a century of the ride itself and includes representative locomotives for the evolution of this industry. The era of steam locomotive construction ended in 1964, when the construction of Diesel and later electric locomotives begins.
